Love Jesus More. The World Less.
Privacy
200 Words is operated by Q2 LLC. In this policy, "we" means Q2 LLC.
The short version. We collect the one address you give us so we can send you one devotional a week. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with anyone for their own use. You can leave at any time and we stop.
What we collect
When you sign up we store your email address, the date and time you signed up, the wording of the consent you agreed to, your IP address, and your browser's user agent string. We record the same again when you confirm. Those exist so we can prove the signup was real if a mail provider ever asks.
We also derive an approximate location from that IP address, at the level of country and, within the United States, state. This is worked out on our own server from a local lookup table. Your IP address is not sent to any third party for this. We use it only to understand where readers are, and it is never used to target or identify you individually.
We record whether each weekly message was delivered. We do not track whether you open it, and we do not track which links you click.
Who we never give it to
We do not sell your email address. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to other publishers or ministries, not as part of a list. We do not rent it and we do not trade it.
The only outside party that ever handles your address is the service that carries the message. Email is delivered through Amazon Simple Email Service, a processor acting on our instructions and permitted to do nothing else with it.
Where it does go
200 Words is operated by Q2 LLC, which runs other projects. Your address stays inside that company, and we may occasionally write to you about something else we are working on. That is the only use beyond the weekly devotional, and it is still us writing to you, never someone who acquired your name from us.
If you want the devotional and nothing else, send a message to devotionalonly@200words.org. You do not need to write anything in it. We will mark your address so you receive the weekly devotional and nothing further.
Every message also carries a one-tap unsubscribe that ends everything at once.
We will disclose information if a law requires it.
How long we keep it
While you are subscribed, and after you unsubscribe we keep the record of your unsubscribe so we do not accidentally message you again. Ask us to delete everything and we will, aside from a suppression entry holding nothing but a one-way hash.
Leaving
Every email has a one-tap unsubscribe link, and most mail apps show an unsubscribe button of their own. Either takes effect immediately, with nothing to log into.
Children
This is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the ministry develops. If a change materially affects how we use your address, we will email you before it takes effect, so you can decide whether to stay. Smaller corrections and clarifications are simply posted here with a new date.
